This privacy policy will be in effect as of 25th May 2018.

Who we are

Our website address is: http://www.paperinkandcolour.co.uk. It is maintained by Tallie Clewley.

How we use your information

This privacy notice details what happens to your personal information when interacting with the website. This applies to information about:

  • Visitors to our website;
  • Commenters on blog posts and pages;
  • Visitors who subscribe to blog updates;
  • Visitors who use the contact form.

We try to collect as little personal information on our visitors as possible. What we do collect is strictly necessary to operate the blog and improve our service to our visitors.

Visitors to our website

When someone visits http://www.paperinkandcolour.co.uk we use a third-party WordPress plugin (Jetpack, owned and maintained by Automattic Inc) to collect standard internet log information and details of visitor behaviour patterns. We do this so that we can get a better idea as to which posts and pages are more popular so we can tailor future posts. This information is processed in a way which does not identify anyone – only usage statistics (frequency counts for visits to the site and where visitors have been referred from) are stored. Additionally, the Jetpack plugin allows you to subscribe to our blog (or to comment threads) by entering your email address to receive updates. Please see Jetpack’s privacy notice (https://jetpack.com/support/privacy) for more information on what information the Jetpack plugin uses.

WordPress

We use a third-party software, WordPress, to publish our blog. We use the standard WordPress service to collect anonymous usage information about vistor behaviour and patterns. When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection. An anonymised string created from the email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if they are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available https://automattic.com/privacy. After approval of the comment, a profile picture is visible to the public in the context of the comment.

Contact Form

Visitors who wish to get in touch via the contact form are asked to provide a name and email address. This information is only used to respond to the visitor and the email train will normally be deleted within a year if further correspondence is not necessary.

Cookies

If visitors leave a comment on our site they may opt-in to saving their name, email address and website in cookies. These are for their convenience so that they do not have to fill in their details again when they  leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year. If visitors have an account and log in to this site, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if their browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when they close their browser. When visitors log in, we will also set up several cookies to save login information and screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If visitors select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If they log out of their account, the login cookies will be removed.

Embedded Content from Other Websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website. These websites may collect data about the visitors, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor interaction with that embedded content, including tracing  interaction with the embedded content if visitors have an account and are logged in to that website.

Sharing Data

Other than the companies detailed above, no data is shared with any third party.

Data Retention

If visitors leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognise and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue. For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

Your Rights

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Where We Send Your Data

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service, Akismet.
